Join us for PB Soundboards!

We recognize there is no single right way to implement a participatory budgeting process. But we know that by coming together, we can strengthen our practice and grow networks of support and expertise. (And we want your feedback on how to do that!)

PB Soundboards will be a virtual space for participatory budgeting (PB) practitioners, dedicated to problem solving and practice sharing. Each month, we’ll hear directly from a practitioner about a real issue they’re grappling with–and then we’ll workshop potential solutions together. It's being planned and convened by the Participatory Budgeting Project and the NYC Civic Engagement Commission.

Who should attend?

If you’re someone who has helped implement or participated in a PB process–and you’re invested in helping improve participatory democracy practice–this is for you!

What’s the schedule?

We've had 4 events in the past 6 months! Our next one will be in April 2024.

YOUR FEEDBACK will help us shape this space! Please answer these questions to give us a sense of your interests and availability. Thank you!

We imagine each meeting will have these main elements:

-  Space for welcoming and relationship building
- A volunteer presents a story about a challenge they've been grappling with
- The group discusses and workshops the challenge (either as a large group or in breakout rooms, depending on the size of the group)
- Folks synthesize any takeaways, lessons and/or practices as a group
- We close out with time for some nimble feedback to shape the next session

Do you have any feedback on this meeting format?
We encourage 1-3 attendees per agency or organization. (We hope folks from across agency & organizational roles will attend, with special encouragement to include frontline staff.)

Are there other people at your organization who you think would be interested in attending? Please add names and emails here.
Is there anything else you'd like us to know?
