Transformation Tech is designed to help increase the digital revenue capabilities of publishers from National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) and the Association of Alternative Newsmedia (AAN).
Over the course of three months, publishers will assess their digital revenue needs and goals, accelerate their digital transformation, build audiences and develop a specific plan to grow digital revenue.
Through curriculum presentation, one-on-one coaching and consulting from digital experts, publishers will diagnose their technology needs, select specific revenue opportunities and build a revenue plan. Each publisher also will receive $20,000 in funding (based on performance and reporting requirements) to support their technology transformation goals.
Six cohorts will take place from June 2023 - December 2024. Applications are taken on a rolling basis. We will select some cohorts based on levels of revenue and how "advanced" your tech stack is, so please realize it could take a number of months before you are invited into a cohort.
Guidelines: Your publication must be a member of AAN, NAHP or NNPA for at least six months prior to starting the lab, and you must be in good standing with your association. (Dues paid.) Newspapers, magazines and online-only publications can apply; radio and TV do not qualify. Transformation Tech is aimed at publications with under 20 newsrooms staffers, and it does require that senior revenue managers (digital sales lead, sales manager, publisher) participate in the lab. Please write Lab Director Todd Stauffer (todd@aan.org) with any questions.
