Cantare Con Vivo Youth Honor Choir 2019-20
This spring, we are inviting students in grades 4-12 to participate in our spring performances through our citywide Honor Choir. Participants will learn four songs to perform at two concerts: one alongside the Nova youth choir (grades 6-12) along with our elementary choirs, the other with Nova and Cantare's 100-voice adult choir. This is a great chance to see what it is like to sing in a choir and to make new friends. The program is audition-free and tuition-free. Free tickets will be provided for family members to attend the concert.

Schedule: (all events take place at First Presbyterian Church, Oakland 2619 Broadway except May 16 concert)
-Sunday March 22 3:00-5:00pm Honor Choir rehearsal (First Presbyterian, Oakland)
-Sunday April 26 3:00-5:00pm Rehearsal with adult choirs (First Presbyterian, Oakland)
-Thursday April 30: 4-6 pm Rehearsal with elementary choirs for spring concert (First Presbyterian, Oakland)
-Friday May 1: Cantare Children's Choirs Spring Concert @ 6 pm, 4:30 pm warmup (First Presbyterian, Oakland)
-Tuesday May 12: Rehearsal with Nova (First Presbyterian, Oakland)
-Saturday May 16: Concert with Cantare adult choirs @ 7:30 pm in Lafayette, bus leaves from First Presbyterian, Oakland at 4:30 pm (Concert at Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church 49 Knox Dr, Lafayette)

Director Julie Haydon loves working with singers of all ages. Julie has worked with Cantare Con Vivo since 2000, currently serving as Director of Cantare Children’s Choirs, a tuition-free program providing weekly in-school and after-school choral music education for over 2000 underserved students in Oakland, CA.  Julie oversees the after-school choir program and is the founding director of Nova, Cantare's citywide choir for 6-12 graders. Under Julie’s direction, Cantare received Chorus America’s Education and Community Engagement award in 2005 and 2014.
