Third Nine Weeks Begins January 6, 2021
In response to COVID-19, the Senatobia Municipal School District is providing distance learning for students who complete this form. Please note the following when determining if applying for distance learning is the best option for your student. Please fill out one form per student. You must complete the residency process.
1. Students MUST be passing in order to remain distance learners. If students are not successful as distance learners, they must return to face-to-face instruction.
2. Distance learning students will follow the school board approved academic calendar.
3. Best practices for distance learning will be employed to include rigorous instruction, high
expectations of student performance, and attainment of all grade-level standards.
4. Attendance will be taken in accordance with the Mississippi Department of Education’s
attendance guidelines regarding distance learning. Students must login to Google Classroom daily by noon and complete a form to be marked present. Attendance will be mandatory. Students must be active online daily.
5. Approved applications will be taken on a nine-week basis. There will be an opportunity to
transfer from full-time distance learning to the school/traditional classroom setting at the
end of each nine weeks. You may not opt out of distance learning before the end of the nine weeks.
6. Students will use the district-approved learning management system, Google Classroom.
7. All elective courses may not be offered to full-time distance learning students.
8. Distance learning students will not have the option of participating in extracurricular
activities such as athletics and fine arts.
9. Meals will be provided via pickup by the school district for distance learning students.
10. All Senatobia Municipal School District grading policies and procedures will apply during
distance learning.
11. Consistent communication with your child's school and teachers will be essential for success. Parents and students need to be prepared to respond to teacher and school communications daily. Students need to be prepared to complete lessons daily.
12. Distance learning does not serve as an equitable alternative to the traditional classroom
setting. Expressing intent to participate constitutes a commitment to virtual learning and
acknowledgement to all above statements.
