Do you remember a time when you looked around and realized you were all alone? (Maybe in a store, in the woods, etc. ) What did it feel like?  What went through your mind?
How glad were you to see your family again?
What other events in life can leave a person feeling very alone?
In the time of Isaiah, the people of Judah were overtaken by their Babylonian enemies.  The Babylonian army knocked down the city walls and tore down the Temple. The people were defeated and in ruins.  And the people felt abandoned by their God.
In what ways can America today relate to Judah in Isaiah's time?
ISAIAH 49:14—Zion says, “The Lord has abandoned me; the Lord has forgotten me!”
