Sask Poly is going to be offering sessions from the following departments:

Machinist - Introduction to Machining including spin top making
Design Manufacturing Engineering Tech (DMET) - Introduction to Inventor session, with a quick tour of our 3D printing facility at the end. Inventor is 3D parametric modeling CAD package that is used widely in local Industry. Parametric modeling allows the planning of a part with special dimensions or parameters that can be edited or changed as design updates are required, and changing the parameters will then cause the CAD model and subsequent drawings to update automatically.
Welding - Introduction to TIG welding led by Brendan Postnikoff, former teacher in SPSD now instructing at Sask Poly.
Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) - Introduction to Finite Element Analysis - This session will introduce the learner to Finite Element Method (FEM) for structural analysis. This technique is very popular with engineers for providing predictions of strength and failures through simulation rather than more expensive physical testing. A brief introduction to the method and how it is taught at the technologist level as well as the engineering level will be followed by practice using software to simulate loading and failure of structural elements.
Introduction to Dynamic Simulation - This session will introduce the learner to modelling and simulation of dynamic systems by using a build and topple domino effect type gaming approach (i.e.: Rube Goldberg machine). Attendees will receive a short tutorial on the simulation tool(s) and then be challenged to create their own short domino effect sequence.
Introduction to Energy Systems I - This session will provide an introduction to various conventional and non-conventional energy systems, which are utilized for electrical generation. This includes solar PV, wind, fuel cell, hydropower, as well as gas turbine engines. Attendees will be able to observe each system in operation, noting significant operational characteristics.
Introduction to Fluid Power - This session will explore the world of fluid power with a focus on hydraulics. Hydraulics provide a high power energy transfer technology. The session will start with some discussion of the governing equations used to determine which components are required in a hydraulic circuit. After some introduction, we will head towards the hydraulic simulators in the practical lab where everyone will be able to handle the equipment to produce hydraulic circuits capable of real work.
Introduction to Energy Systems II - This session will provide an introduction to the modeling and assessment of energy systems (e.g. solar PV/thermal, wind, fuel cell, engines, etc.) via the software RETScreen. Attendees will work through introductory exercises to gain familiarization with the software, as well as observe demonstrations of its broader capabilities / functionality, with perspective to incorporation within classroom learning.
Electronic Systems Engineering Tech (ESET) - Soldering and Robotics Project and a tour of the facility.
Carpentry - Focus on Building Construction – topics may include framing, interior door installation and tool us
Bricklayer – How to install manufactured stone veneer.

Other Offerings

Fun and Games - Taking place at Marion Graham IA lab - Learn and use wood working skills to build collaborative games to use in your classroom, your home and with your friends. This session offers an opportunity to leave with plans for and a sample of a table top game that you can use in your class.

Wood Carving - An introduction to traditional carving (using gouges) and whittling with the President of the Saskatchewan Woodworkers Guild Paul Perron.

Sharpening Tools - How to sharpen and maintain your hand tools presented by Lee Valley

SaskCode - Robotics in the classroom, working with some of the kids that SaskCode has to offer.
