2023 Boy's Talk Event RSVP

PARENTS: Please read the information below carefully. DEADLINE for registration is 11/17/23.


MEC Sunday School welcomes Maulana Kamran of Makki Masjid to present a "Coming of Age" to the MEC Sunday School boys, grades 6-10. The Boy's Talk program will take place Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, from 10:15a-1:30p in the community hall. Lunch will be provided.


Discussion areas include:

1. "Puberty, Now What?" This will entail the physical, emotional, psychological, and religious aspects of one of a boy's life's milestones. (Signs of puberty, normal vs. speculation, behavior, etc.)

2. Health and hygiene: rules and responsibilities, Islamic expectations, mental, physical, social, and religious responsibilities, etc.)

4. The talk will also include fun and engaging activities to help understand the topics covered.

The program aims to provide boys with a safe and caring space to learn and discuss these sensitive topics with trusted professionals. Topics include self-esteem, coping with changes, the concept of maturity, cleanliness & hygiene, basic Islamic rulings & accountability. Students will also be able to discuss current events and mental health.

Maulana Kamran attended DarusSalam Seminary in 2019, where he completed a 7-year Aalimiyah course as part of their first graduating class. Since graduating, he has served as a full-time Youth Director at Makki Masjid, Assistant Imam, and Instructor, and continues post-grad Islamic studies through various online institutions. 

Please note: This program has been made mandatory by administration for all boys in grades 6-10. This registration will also provide a headcount to plan for lunch and accessories.
