Parents,

We are offering STAAR opt-in prep again this year. Our approach is to work gradually over several months for our 3rd through Algebra I students. Purchasing our practice book is required for your student to participate in STAAR prep, but you can opt in or out of this preparation. A response is necessary, or we will conclude that you are opting out. Our timing is the same as last year. Students who attend three times a week will begin their practice in November, and students who attend twice a week will begin in January.

For in-center students:

STAAR practice occurs for 20 minutes each session. We set monthly goals, and if those are not met, we will send the book home for additional practice time. It will be important to have your student return the book back to the center each session.

The maximum cost for the book is $20, and if your student is in a level where a bulk discount rate applies, you will be charged the lower amount.

For virtual students:

Supporting STAAR virtually is more complex than in-center, but we still wanted to offer you some options. 1) Purchase the STAAR book and self-study at home. There is no additional cost beyond the book. 2) Purchase the STAAR book and schedule a separate 30 minute session between 7:30-8pm to practice some problems with an instructor. We cannot build STAAR time into the regular session. The fee is the book cost plus an additional $50/month to support the instructor time. This additional fee would be charged either December - April (three time/week students) or January - April (twice a week students).
