Capes for Kids - Guinness Record Breaking Volunteer Sign Up

Capes for Kids supports Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Canada’s largest rehabilitation hospital for children and youth with disabilities and complex medical needs. To launch Capes for Kids, Holland Bloorview is planning a one-time event hosted by Pascal Siakam where we will attempt to break an official Guinness World Record of the most number of people wearing a cape. This event is taking place on Monday, Feb 6, 2023 at a Raptors 905 game at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga. We will be working with celebrity partners to promote and support this event. The attempt will take place during the 1st quarter break.

Please note, volunteers need to be 16yrs or older to participate. Further, some of these roles only require a limited number of people and are on a first come assignment basis.

As you can imagine, a lot of support is needed to do follow this procedure to a tee which is why we appreciate you taking the time to fill in this form to register.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities

We will do our best to place you in a specific role of your preference but please note, we may have to allocate you to the place of highest need pending on the number of volunteers.

Further, to maxmize your time spent onsite, a lot of volunteers will have more than 1 role.

Stewards - NON HOLLAND BLOORVIEW STAFF ONLY. This volunteer will be allocated a specific set of seats where they will be responsible for counting the number of participating and non-participating people. Each Steward must complete a Steward Statement that fully describes how many participants they observed, along with the number and reasoning for any disqualifications they made during the attempt. They will then quickly bring their documentation to their Team Lead so it can be submitted as evidence for our judge. This is a very important role.

Team Leads - This role is a Holland Bloorview staff member only role. They will be the person in charge of a full section of counters and will manage any questions/concerns from volunteers - they will ensure volunteers are in place for cape count.
