Film & Analog Photography Workshops at Museo Camera
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Museo Camera is an institution which celebrates the history and evolution of photography. In keeping with this spirit, the Museum conducts regular workshops teaching various historic processes of photography and print-making.

The Workshop on Film & Analog Photography is a comprehensive two-day workshop under the guidance of photographer and Museum Director Aditya Arya covering all aspects of the analog process from taking photographs on film to making silver prints on photographic paper.

With the photographic revolution that digital technology has brought forth, the practice of analog photography has seen a tremendous decline in the last two decades. Nonetheless, the process is essential if one has to understand the principles and historical evolution of photography. Besides, for someone used to the digital medium & photo-editing software's, using real chemicals in a darkroom to produce photographs makes for quite a memorable experience.

This immersive hands-on workshop is divided over two days in the following format:

Day 1:
Participants will learn how to manually operate a film camera & a light meter to get correct exposures. Each participant will then be given a camera, film roll (120 roll or 35mm, B-W) & a tripod to take photographs within the premises of the Museum. The participants will then head to the darkroom to learn how to process & develop their film roll with the required chemicals to get the photographic negatives.

Day 2:
Participants will learn how to make photographic prints from the negatives they had prepared the previous day. They will be guided through how test strips, contact prints & enlargements are made, and introduced to the various chemicals that are used in the darkroom. Participants can then make their own prints which they get to take home with them.
