CMC Wilderness Medicine Instructor Application
Hello and thank you for your interest in being a volunteer CMC Wilderness First Aid instructor! Please review the minimum instructor requirements below and complete this application to teach 2-day/16-hour Wilderness First Aid courses. All courses are taught with 2 instructors and courses are held on Saturdays and Sundays. Classes are held in Golden at the American Mountaineering Center, but there is also potential to travel to Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Glenwood Springs, Ridgeway, Montrose or other locations. Selected applicants must be able to attend the wilderness medicine instructor training program (Upcoming dates TBD). Applicants must be active CMC members or will obtain an annual membership prior to teaching.

Minimum Instructor Requirements:

Education

•  Wilderness First Responder (WFR) +  CPR certification or Higher

Preferred Experience:

Medical Background & Patient Care

•  Direct experience managing common injuries, illnesses and evacuations in a wilderness setting.

Outdoor Trip Leading

•  Experience leading extended trips for youth or adults in wilderness settings.  

Teaching Experience

•  Teaching experience with adult learners in an outdoor education setting or classroom.
