humans of the art: creative dance process with SHRI Vaibhav arekar
Delve into process, choreography, ideation and creation with Shri Vaibhav Arekar. Established as one of the most thoughtful, sensitive, prolific dancers and creators in the bharatanatyam dance sphere today, he brings in a unique depth and honesty into all his work. His dance exudes  intelligence in ideation as well as execution. This is an opportunity for aspiring and professional dancers to get an insight into Vaibhav sir's dancing and go through the creative process under his guidance.

About the Artiste :

Vaibhav Arekar belongs to a new generation of dedicated, dynamic dancers, whose art and life are guided by the vision of promoting and projecting Indian classical dance as an evolving, contemporary art form.

He is the founder of the Sankhya Dance Company, one of the leading dance companies in western India. Through the language of Bharatanatyam, it investigates and interrogates concepts and performances techniques in its quest to find the 'contemporary' within the classical folds. The company’s dynamic repertory ranges from traditional works to contemporary dance productions.

Workshop Details :

Participants will be led through 2 days of 3 hour sessions. Each session will address looking at compositions holistically, how to approach a text, get into a specific character, how to structure a piece and how to delve into more modern texts that may not be written for dance. Vaibhav sir will be doing all of this through various examples of his own work. Together, he hopes to help us find a way to make each piece real for ourselves, finding the balance between the freedom of interpretation and the truth behind the poetry.

Students are required to have prior dance background and be at an intermediate-advance level in their practice. Professional dancers are welcome to apply.

Participants will also be offered discounted tickets for Vaibhav sirs Baithak showcase post registration so hold off on buying your ticket till you hear back from us.
