Advanced Placement (AP) courses are the equivalent of college-level work, as such, they are rigorous, and students can earn college credit if they earn a qualifying score on the exam. AP courses require a high degree of commitment. Because of this commitment, the grades for all AP courses are weighted according to the following scale:

Each AP course requires the following commitments. Please check each box to indicate that you agree to the commitment. *

An average of 1 to 1 1/2 hours of independent study/practice at home after each school day (5 - 8 hours per week)

Completion of a summer assignment for each class

$94 registration fee to pay for the AP examination (scholarships available)

In order to receive weighted credit the student must complete the AP examination with valid test scores being reported back to MRHS

If I decide to withdraw from an AP course, there may not be room in a regular course for that semester. This means that I may have to overload my schedule or pay for a credit recovery course in some circumstances.

Upon withdrawing from an AP course, I will be issued a "withdraw fail (W-F)" on my transcript which will be counted against my GPA.
