Greek InterVarsity Chapter Ministry Leader Application
Greek InterVarsity is where being Greek & Christian come together! We're part of a nationwide organization that brings together Fraternity & Sorority members from all different backgrounds and denominations to seek Jesus together. We want to help Greeks lead amazing Bible studies in every chapter on campus.

Like anything that's worth doing, serving as a Chapter Ministry Leader is a commitment, but it's worth it for how much you and your chapter will grow!

Here's what we expect from Chapter Ministry Leaders (CMLs):

Commitments:
  • Weekly Bible Study Prep Sessions (1-hour on Zoom) - You’ll join other Greek IV Leaders across Louisiana to prep that week’s chapter ministry study together. You'll have an awesome experience studying the passage with fellow leaders and it will make it so much easier for you to lead yourself.
  • Monthly All-Greek Gatherings - As CMLs, we all work together to plan and lead monthly All-Greek Gatherings on campus. We ask every leader to cancel/reschedule their chapter study that week and bring their brothers/sisters. We also work together to recruit as many Greeks we can, especially from new chapters.
  • Louisiana Greek Getaway (October) & Greek Conference (February) - These are our annual statewide and national Greek events. We want all leaders to attend (unless you have a major conflict), and to bring brothers/sisters with them. These events will not only help you grow as a leader, they’re also an opportunity to deepen the impact of your Chapter Ministry by giving your brothers/sisters a chance to take next steps in their faith. We have scholarships and fundraising opportunities for those who need financial help.
  • Pre-Semester Planning Day - Our CML team will gather for a planning day in August and January to prepare for the coming semester.
  • 1-Year - We ask CMLs to commit to lead for at least 2 semesters. We find that it typically takes a full year to disciple the next leader who will take over after you.
What You Get:
  • Weekly Discipleship & Coaching - CMLs will meet weekly in discipleship groups with a Greek IV. You’ll get coaching for your chapter ministry and we’ll also go deeper talking about growing in your relationship with God.
  • Lead 101 Training - Every new CML will go through our Greek IV Lead 101 training to help you understand what it means to be a spiritual leader and how to use the Chapter Ministry Leaders Guide every week.
  • Chapter Ministry Box - You’ll get a new box each semester with a leaders guide, scripture printouts and everything else you’ll need to lead. You don’t have to come up with your own resources!
  • Leadership Development - Leading a chapter ministry is one of the best ways to grow as a leader and grow in your faith in college. You’ll learn skills like entrepreneurship, risk-taking, planning & organization, event planning, emotional awareness, public speaking, group facilitation, scripture study, how to share your faith, prayer, and more!
  • Year-End Banquet - We host a statewide Greek IV Leaders Banquet in April/May, honoring everyone’s hard work and giving awards to outstanding Chapter Ministry Leaders for the year!
  • Community - You don’t have to lead by yourself! When you become a CML with Greek IV, you’re joining a community of like-minded leaders who will support you, pray for you, and encourage you. Leadership will be challenging, but you’ll have a Greek IV team that’s got your back.
  • Next Generation - We’ll help you develop the next generation of CMLs in your chapter, making it easier to pass the torch when you’re done.

Further Opportunities
  • After you've served for at least a year as a Chapter Ministry Leader, you'll have the opportunity to become a member of the exec team for Greek InterVarsity on campus. Exceptional leaders may be invited to apply to be paid student interns with Greek InterVarsity.

Tell us about why you'd like to lead a Bible study in your chapter! *
Share about how you came to believe in Jesus. For some of us, faith has been a part of our lives as long as we can remember. For some, we've disovered Jesus later in life. Tell us about how your faith in Jesus has become real and personal to you! *
It’s important that Chapter Ministry Leaders are actively seeking to grow in their faith. What are the ways that you nurture your relationship with God currently? (Examples: scripture reading, involvement in your chapter ministry, church attendance, prayer, etc.) *
Spiritual leadership isn’t just about helping others. God uses spiritual leadership to transform us and help us grow. How do you think leading a chapter ministry will help you grow in your faith? *
As leaders representing Jesus in our chapters, we won’t be perfect, but we do need to be in the process of becoming more like Jesus, learning to live according to his teachings. (Especially loving God with our whole heart and loving our neighbors as ourselves).

In Greek life, there are many common struggles we face (alcohol abuse, sex & relationships, pride, image-consciousness, gossip, anger, and jealousy to name a few).

What are some of the ways that you’re striving to live like Jesus in the midst of these struggles we face as Greeks?

Having a partner can make leadership even better! Is there anyone else in you chapter who would be a good candidate to be a Chapter Ministry Leader too?
Any questions or comments?
Thanks for applying! Shoutout from the Louisiana Greek InterVarsity leaders!
