As EMCA shifts it's season from the academic year to May - March, season teams will no longer compete at Future Cheer Internationals in Bournemouth. Instead you can opt-in to be a member of EMCA's Bournemouth travel team.
Future Cheer's International Championship is one of the biggest competitions in Europe and being just minutes walk from Bournemouth beach makes it a perfect venue for EMCA families to enjoy a weekend away together.
In 2022, we aim to offer all athletes the chance to compete in Bournemouth - the only exception being if there is not enough interest amongst our tiny or open aged athletes to create an age appropriate team or you have no cheerleading/gymnastics experience.
How it works - All athletes wanting to compete be part of EMCA's Bournemouth travel team need to:
1. Complete this interest form - you are not committing at this stage!
2. Attend team placements on Wednesday 30th March;
- Tiny/Mini/Youth/Junior (school years 1 - 10) @ 17:30 - 19:30
- International/Senior (school years 11 & over) @ 19:30 - 21:30. If in school year 7-10 and would like to be considered for a flying position or a crossover position, are welcome to attend the senior session as well as the age group session.
3. Pay £160 by Wednesday 6th April (link will be sent with team placement to registered email) - includes competition entry fee, choreography session, training fees and travel team t-shirt.
4. Attend training sessions (dates below);
- Tiny/Mini/Youth/Junior @ Sunday 10:00 - 12:00
- International/Seniors @ Wednesday 19:30 - 21:30
The Bournemouth travel team training is IN ADDITION to your team training sessions.
5. Attend team choreography day - date TBC.
6. Compete at Bournemouth International Centre - Tiny/Mini/Youth/Junior must be able to compete on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd July. International/Senior must be able to compete on Sunday 3rd July.
FAQ:
- Does EMCA provide travel and accommodation? No, parents are responsible for this. EMCA coaches are only responsible for athletes in warm-up and on the competition floor.
- Where would you recommend staying? Lots of families stay at Haven holiday park in Poole as it provides a safe and fun environment to enjoy your weekend break whilst not at the competition. However, there are plenty of hotels or B&Bs in Bournemouth to stay at.
- What uniform will athletes wear? This will depend on which athletes wish to attend Bournemouth 2022.
- What level teams will be competing? Due to the short period of training, level appropriate teams will be formed based on the athletes wanting to attend, to ensure a fun filled experience.
- Do I need specific skills? As long as you have cheerleading experience, a positive attitude and enthusiasm to cheer at EMCA, everyone is welcome to join a team. Possible exception of tiny and open aged athletes depending on numbers of interest. Due to the short training schedule, athletes with no cheerleading experience cannot be guaranteed a place on a Bournemouth travel team.
- Can I crossover to more than Bournemouth team? Athletes will be able to crossover from Junior to International/Senior teams at an additional cost of £100 to cover crossover entry fee, choreography and reduced training fees.
- Is there an upper age limit? No. As there are no Covid restrictions for over 18s, we can take everyone this year!
