Wayland Public Schools Kindergarten Pre-Registration 2024 - 2025

The proposed budget for the 2024-2025 school year includes the cost of Full Day Kindergarten. If the budget passes at Town Meeting in May, there will be no cost to families. If the budget is not approved, the fee for Full Day Kindergarten will be $2,700.00. Half Day Kindergarten will be offered at no fee. 

Note: Spanish Immersion is Full Day Kindergarten. Families participating in the lottery must still fill out this pre-registration. Spanish Immersion lottery to be held separately.

IV. TRANSPORTATION NEEDS & BUFFER ZONE
Will you need Wayland School Bus Transportation? *
ALL families - both existing and new - who choose school bus transportation, whether town-paid or fee-based, must register and pay between March 1 - 31, 2024.
  • Students in Kindergarten to grade 6 living more than two miles from their assigned schools are eligible to receive town-paid transportation. 
  • Students in Kindergarten through grade 6 living less than two miles from their assigned schools and all students in grades 7 to 12 are eligible for fee-based transportation based on space availability. 
Families may register for school bus transportation on-line or mail.

Early Childhood Experience
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires the collection of preschool data for our incoming Kindergarten students.

Preschool Experience Definitions:
1. Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) Services:
  • Locally based programs serving families with children birth through school age (e.g. parent/child playgroups, parent-child activities).
2. Parent Child Home Program (PCHP):  
  • Home visiting model program funded through the Department of Early Education and Care.
3. Licensed Family Childcare:
  • Refers to EEC licensed child care in a group setting in a home.   It may include care in the home of a family member, if the provider is both a relative and an EEC licensed child care provider providing care to children from multiple families.
4. Center-Based Care:
  • Refers to care for children in a group setting, including public and private preschools, Head Start, day care centers, and integrated public preschools.
