Summer School | Europe & Migration

The Summer School is organised by the Jean Monnet Chair "The Fundamentals of European Integration: Democracy, Institutions & Policies" and will look at the long-term consequences of EU and national policies in the matter (or the absence thereof) and will examine the implications of the current situation, from an economic, demographic and political angle. Guest speakers will analyse the current migration and asylum situation in Europe and look into possible solutions.

The Summer School will allow participants to discuss the multiple facets of international migration today and discuss relevant EU policies and the European and national efforts to shape a response to it and will include round tables and working group sessions on the following thematic areas:

- The challenges of migration in Europe: economy, solidarity and rights
- EU asylum policies and external borders management: political and legal implications
- Legal migration and integration.

The Summer School will be organized in a hybrid manner, in accordance with the Greek health regulation to combat covid-19. Participants may choose to attend in person or online. Attendance in person will take place at the School of Aristotle Cultural Center in the city of Naousa (Imathia) to a maximum of 40 participants. Participants attending in person will have to contribute with a registration fee of 50 euros, covering board and lodging (2 nights). Participation attending online is free of charge.  Successful applicants will be informed by separate mail.
