Global Ties Kalamazoo 2024 In Person Survey
Dear Global Ties Kalamazoo hosting community,

2023 was our first full year of in person hosting since March 13, 2020. Over the past year, our community hosted 360 people in 35 distinct programs. We had 798 total home hosted overnight guests in our community, and our visitors accounted for 1449 total hotel nights. Additionally, some 305 home hospitality meals were served by wonderful local hosts. Amazing!! With IVLP, IYLEP, YAP Brazil, LAYA, Open World, German social workers - so many incredible people from all over the world. Thank you so much to those of you who have hosted overnight guests, as well as meaningful meals. It has been wonderful to be fully back to in person and, to keep it up, we need you.

2024 started with a bang. We hosted youth (15-18 years old) from Brazil in January. Many of you haven’t had a chance to host since the pandemic began. We hope an opportunity from among the below will work for you (and new opportunities will be added as they are confirmed).

In this survey we ask about your comfort/interest in hosting in different ways, at different times of year, in 2024.

Here are a few of our commitments to you: all guests will be vaccinated. Everyone will undertake testing before their arrival in Kalamazoo and antigen testing, when needed, will monitor the situation. Protocols will be activated (including isolation and quarantine) should anyone involved in any project test positive for covid. (These protocols are subject to change as the situation evolves)

With all of that said, we can only accept in-person projects with home hosting if there is an openness to host in our community. We have had so many wonderful and rich home hosting experiences since our 2022 return to in person and look forward to many more. We are committed to remaining nimble and flexible, as has been our way throughout the past two plus years.

In acting as a host in Kalamazoo, you make our international visitor programs special, with a lasting impact for years to come. Would you help us by filling out this short survey? It should take no more than five minutes.

We have thoroughly enjoyed coming together in real life again, and to the intangibles and opportunities for deep and meaningful international engagement that these exchanges offer. We look forward to having you join us as well.
