Your FAM negotiating team has won some important victories, but it's member pressure that will win on the final sticking points, compensation and job security.
Management has offered you raises that come nowhere near to addressing increases in the cost of living. Meanwhile, they have the money to: hire Bain Consulting for $7.29 million; pay upwards of $1 million on union-busting labor attorneys; build a new basketball arena that will cost $100–200 million; AND, as of Friday, allocate a cool $150 million to a "pooled investment fund."
They have slow-walked negotiation progress, refused to limit librarian workloads, and undermined job security rights. Now, without consulting faculty, they are implementing concerning new
workload metrics.
Together with your colleagues, you have immense power to win on your priorities.
It just takes showing up together. Talk to to your colleagues — on December 13, let's show the board that faculty and librarians are united in demanding a fair contract now!
