Primary Student Device Agreement- 2023-2024
Meridian Primary students in 2nd through 5th grade have been issued individual Chromebooks for use during school.  These devices are checked out to each student through the Meridian Library system.  

The district provides digital citizenship instruction to students, including information about how to care for the device and how to make responsible use of technology.  Parents may obtain information about our Media Literacy classes by contacting the Primary Library.

All students are subject to the district’s acceptable use of technology policies:
• The district does not permit unethical use of the Internet, email, or any other media. All use shall be in accordance with the Student/Parent Handbook, Student Code of Conduct, applicable Board Policies, and the district’s acceptable use policies. Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action by the school.

A school device will be assigned to the student named below under the following conditions:
• This student device use agreement, with the digital signature of the parent/guardian will be kept in school records.
• Use of this equipment for any purpose other than educational use may result in loss of privileges.
• Students may not take their assigned device home and must store them securely each day in school, in the assigned cart.
• The configuration of the hardware equipment and all accompanying software may not be altered, nor can software be copied to or from the device, or installed on the device under any circumstances.
• If the device is lost/stolen, the student should notify his or her teacher and the Primary Library as soon as possible.
• The district makes no warranties or representations regarding the device provided and is not responsible for any damages arising from or related to use of the device, including loss of data.
• Internet, email, and other use of the device by any user is not private or confidential and may be monitored and filtered.
• The device, which is the property of Meridian School, must be in acceptable condition at the end of the 2023-2024 school year, or in the event of school change or early withdrawal.

The student must maintain the device in acceptable condition at all times. Students must not share their devices with any other person as damages or misuse of the device will be the responsibility of the assigned student. Parents/guardians accept full financial responsibility for costs to repair, replace, or otherwise restore the device to acceptable condition.
• The full replacement cost of the Dell Chromebooks is $260. By signing this document, you agree to reimburse Meridian School up to the replacement cost of $260 should the device require repairs or be damaged beyond repair.  
• The district may proceed with legal action, should the financial obligation be ignored. For more information, refer to the Student/Parent Handbook, Student Code of Conduct, and Board Policy.
• Meridian School reserves the right to monitor incidents of loss/damage and take appropriate action in response to neglect of the device or excessive or repeated incidents of loss/damage, including disciplinary action, revocation of device privileges, and termination of this Agreement.
• Repair costs: Costs may include, but not limited to: Cracked screen- $140, Broken hinge- $85, Missing or broken keys- $80
