Why Companies Should  Lobby for Climate and How Students Can Help
Scientists overwhelmingly agree we need to keep warming below the critical 1.5℃ threshold to avoid the most devastating effects of climate change. To decarbonize at the speed and scale required we urgently need bold and equitable climate policy. But the debate over climate policy in the U.S. is disproportionately dominated by fossil fuel companies and their allies. Big Oil expends nearly 40% of its lobbying power to fight against climate legislation and has historically outspent pro-climate forces by a factor of 10 to 1. As a result of this asymmetry we are losing the climate war.

ClimateVoice aims to shift this imbalance of power by moving a new lever - the workforce. Our vision is that students and employees will demand climate advocacy from top employers and create a tipping point for policy change. Students, in their role as future employees, can be a powerful voice for change.

Join us for a dynamic conversation about climate advocacy with Bill Weihl, former Facebook Director of Sustainability and Google Green Energy Czar. This Fast Company article profiles CV’s campaign urging Tech to lobby for climate:  Hey, Big Tech workers: This campaign wants you to tell your company to lobby for the climate. Raise your climate voice by signing our 1in5 petition. https://www.fastcompany.com/90620502/hey-big-tech-workers-this-campaign-wants-you-to-tell-your-company-to-lobby-for-the-climate
