BUILDING BLOCK 1: Find your marks and own them
Jensen says to look at journals, or think about times when you felt big emotions like fear, joy, anger, or anticipation. These will be clues to find your marks. Have you ever experienced a trauma, or felt caught between 2 different ways of living or thinking? Have you ever done anything that you deeply regret?

What creates tension in your life? Jensen says that tension propels us forward.
Instructions:   Think about your experience as an immigrant. Below, please write down 3 PERSONAL EXAMPLES of times in your life when you felt a big EMOTION (fear, sadness, joy, anticipation, excitement, confusion, hopefulness, hopelessness, exhaustion, pride, etc.) RELATED IN SOME WAY TO YOUR IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCE. (Some possible topic ideas: First day of school; the day you left your country; first day in this country; when you moved into a new home; when you had your first conversation in English; when you got lost; when someone made fun of your culture or language; when you met someone from your country; when you helped someone; when someone helped you; your immigration journey; when you were treated unfairly; when you were judged; when you judged someone; when you had to make a difficult decision...)
