Optional: AGU Cryosphere Awards Suggestion Box
Do you have a colleague who deserves recognition for their work and achievements? Have you ever thought about nominating your colleague for an American Geophysical Union (AGU) award?

The AGU Cryosphere Section has a new canvassing committee whose work includes ensuring that nominations received for the section's awards that reflect the breadth and diversity of the Cryosphere section membership. We are especially seeking candidates from historically marginalized and underrepresented communities.

If you wish to nominate someone for an AGU award, and feel like you have enough information to get started, then go for it! You do not need to continue with this form; it is not required to submit a nomination. However, it would be helpful to let the Canvassing Committee know of your nomination to eliminate redundancy in nominations.

If you know someone who would be great for an award, but you're not sure how to get it started, or can't submit the award yourself, then this form is for you.

The support of the Cryosphere Canvassing Committee is neither required for a nomination nor does it guarantee a successful nomination.

This survey is a single page of questions and will take approximately 2-10 minutes to complete.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The  AGU Cryosphere Section considers nominations for three sets of annual awards:

• The Nye Lecture
• The Early Career Award
• AGU Fellows

The first two awards (Nye Lecture and Early Career) are reviewed and selected by the AGU Cryosphere Awards Committee. AGU Fellows nominees, whose primary or secondary affiliation is with Cryosphere, are reviewed by the Cryosphere Fellows Committee and recommendations are forwarded to the larger AGU Union Fellows committee, where Fellows are selected from among all nominees.

For a description of these individual awards, see here: https://connect.agu.org/cryosphere/home
Each award requires a "nomination packet" submitted by a member of the community. For an overview of how to nominate a potential awardee, see this summary: shorturl.at/gkvxJ

Award nominations are due on April 12th 2023, so now is the time to get started!

(To be most effective, we strongly encourage suggestions in this form to be made no later than Friday, April 1, 2023.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this survey we are asking for you to suggest potential nominees.

After reviewing the suggestions, the Cryosphere Canvassing Committee will champion a subset of suggested nominees (~10) that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Cryosphere community. We will help get a team of colleagues together to submit a nomination packet. If the suggested person is suggested by multiple colleagues, we can connect you so that you may pool resources to submit a strong packet. Our goal is to facilitate a grassroots effort to broaden the representation of recognized scientists from the AGU Cryosphere section.
