Neighbourhood Watch Roles and Responsibilities

The program requires a certain number of Watch Members, Block Coordinators and Street Captains, once we receive enough participants, York Regional Police will assist us in starting a Neighborhood Watch Program in Ward 1.

Block Coordinator: Each Block has a Coordinator who is responsible for the overall operation of the Watch in their block.

Street Captain: The Street Captain is normally responsible for monitoring 10-20 homes, substitutes for the Block Coordinator as required and assists the Coordinator in managing the Watch in their block.

Watch Member: Your only duty is to look out for your own best interests and those of your family and neighbours. You can do this by remaining alert to any suspicious activity and reporting it promptly to the police, then to your Street Captain.
