The Barton Arts Movement is excited to host a volunteer work day at the new Art Alley, a street mural installation in partnership with Great Bend Economic Development, Inc. that will be located in the alley that connects Forest Avenue and Lakin Avenue behind Dry Lake Brewery in downtown Great Bend. Local artist Melanie Ryan has come up with the design and will be present to help facilitate the paint-by-numbers style project with your help! We are needing volunteers to help with prepping and priming the surface, and then with the painting itself.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and able-bodied, meaning they can squat, kneel, lift at least 25 pounds, and endure hot temperatures without risk of injury.
If you are interested in helping, please use the form below to sign up for one of the volunteer shifts on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th (NEW DATE DUE TO WEATHER). Water bottles will be provided for all volunteers, but be sure to wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting paint on (painting is messy) and wear sunscreen to avoid getting a sunburn. Please arrive at least ten minutes before your scheduled shift to allow time to watch and learn from the previous volunteers. You will look for volunteers from the Barton Arts Movement, located near the back door to Dry Lake Brewing. We will give you a brief orientation and provide you with the necessary supplies before you start working.
You will receive additional information in a reminder text/email a day or two before the paint day. We can't wait to bring Art Alley to life with your help!
Volunteer slots are limited, and space may fill up in advance. Volunteers must pre-register ahead of time.
