Matariki is a cluster of 9 stars that signifies the Māori New Year (New Zealand indigenous people) and guided the planting cycle as part of the Māori calendar. Known by many people around the world, it's also know as the Pleiades or the 7 Sisters. Matariki holds special significance for Māori people today as an example of the reclamation of indigenous knowledge and traditions.

We will plan to have the Elite Dangerous expedition hosted on the EDSM website with small bits of traditional knowledge shared for each of the 9 points of the expedition, with links to learn more.

This expedition will be active from the 13-20 July - the period of Matariki (Matariki dates sourced from ‘Matariki - The Star of the Year’ by Dr Rangi Matamua)
