Clean Ocean Action-Rally for Barnegat Bay- Community Scientist Volunteer Form
Thank you for your interest in supporting our Rally for Barnegat Bay Program! In order to collect data and track down non-point source pollution affecting the bay, we need the help of community scientists like yourself!

Community science is collaborative scientific work conducted by members of the general public, professionals and amateurs alike, under the direction of professional scientists or scientific institutions. Community science allows us to collect data that is essential to Clean Ocean Action's mission to improve water quality of Barnegat Bay. Clean Ocean Action's current community science opportunities include water quality monitoring in the Toms River Watershed. Community science activities may include bending, lifting (up to 20 lbs), reaching, or navigating rough terrain including in adverse weather conditions.

Please fill out this form if you would like to volunteer and receive communications about our Rally for Barnegat Bay program.

The following questions are specific to our community science programs. This information will help us to determine which program(s) may be the best fit for you.
Our sampling of Barnegat Bay is currently focused on wet weather sampling. Wet weather sampling includes sampling after a first rainfall and collecting a second sample the following day (24 hours later). Wet weather sampling will only occur during daylight hours and on weekdays.
*Volunteers will be trained in how to collect water samples for bacteria monitoring.

Are you interested in sampling during wet weather conditions?
*
At this time, we have concluded our weekly sampling of Barnegat Bay and currently need volunteers who are available for wet weather sampling. Due to the nature of wet weather sampling, volunteers might be informed only the day before that a sampling event will occur.

Are you able to participant in sampling with limited notice?
