At ECVS, junior high students participate in complimentary courses or commonly referred to options. You will be placed in a new option every quarter, for a total of 4 options this year.
You will not be permitted to take the same option twice.

Art: Welcome to the enriching world of Art! In this course, you'll explore a diverse array of art styles, diving into the intriguing realm of modern art and uncovering the secrets of colour theory. You'll experiment with shapes, dimensions, and even venture into the dynamic world of sculpture. Beyond creating art, this course is about discovering how your artistic passions can connect with potential future careers. Engaging challenges will refine your decision-making skills and empower you to craft impressive projects, guided by the techniques discussed in class. As your teacher, I'll be your companion on this creative voyage, helping you seamlessly infuse these ideas into your projects. Join us in this supportive and nurturing environment, where your artistic talents can flourish freely, and the limitless horizons of art await your exploration. This course has a fee of $25.
Esthetics: Welcome to Esthetics, a course where creativity meets beauty! In this class, we'll explore the basics of nail art, hair styling, and makeup—including classic techniques and fun costume designs. This journey is about hands-on learning and expressing your unique style. From mastering nail designs that pop to crafting hairstyles for every occasion, this course is your chance to dive into the world of beauty. Let's embark on this creative adventure together, learning new skills and bringing our beauty visions to life! This course has a fee of $15.
Food Science: This course is designed for someone that has taken Foods before and is ready to create some healthy savory entré style dishes. These dishes would prepare you to cook at home for your family or in your future. This course has a $30 Fee.
Outdoor Games: Students will be introduced to and participate in a variety of Physical Activity and Sports related games. This option is designed to be active and outdoors (extreme weather permitting of course). Students choosing this option will be expected to bring an active mindset, a positive attitude, an open mind towards new games, and proper outdoor running shoes.
STEM Challenges: This course option will be a series of challenges that students will need to be creative, problem-solve, and work as a team. STEM Challenges will encourage students to develop a critical sense of wonder and curiosity about scientific and technological endeavors. This will provide students with a foundation in science that creates opportunities for them to pursue higher levels of study, prepares them for science-related occupations, and engages them in science-related hobbies appropriate to their interests and abilities.
Woods: Students will learn the tools, techniques, and materials of the wood shop, with an emphasis on safety, through hands-on learning. Students will learn to use major power tools through the design and construction of a shelf, and time permitting a CO2 dragster. This course will have a $40 fee per student.
