What: 8-Saturday young women's leadership workshop series (detailed description below)

Program Description
In its 10th year, Mecca to Manhattan: Muslim Women Moving Mountains ® (M2M) is a workshop series for young Muslim women and girls (ages 13-20), living in the New York City area. Workshops will feature dynamic Muslim women, who are leaders or emerging leaders in the field of social services, community organizing, entrepreneurship, fashion, academia, and more! As part of Turning Point’s commitment to empowering Muslim women and girls, the program aims to:
 demonstrate that young Muslim women and girls are inheritors of a tradition that has historically witnessed female leaders as agents of change
 provide a platform that allows participants to critically examine how gender, race, class, culture, language, ethnicity, history, and faith impact their lives
 foster links between girls/young women and emerging and well-known female Muslim leaders


Attendance & Certificate of Completion
Upon acceptance, Turning Point asks for a $20 deposit to secure participant's seat. This deposit will be refunded in the form of a $25 Gift Card upon successful graduation from the workshops. Participants are required to attend all workshops and will receive a certificate upon completion of the 8 workshops. **If a participant has MORE THAN TWO ABSENCES, she will NOT receive a Certificate of Completion, will not graduate, or receive a refund of the deposit.**


Dates & Venue
The workshops will run for eight Saturdays between early-February and to early April. Snacks will be served and metrocards will be provided as needed.
