Crafting a Competitive English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Application

Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) work in elementary schools, secondary schools, or in universities in over 75 countries. They assist local teachers and serve as cultural ambassadors. ETAs receive round-trip transportation to the host country; funding to cover room, board, and incidental costs; accident & sickness health benefits; and more!

Learn how teaching English abroad during the 2025-2026 academic year can support a wide range of career goals. We will also discuss how to craft a competitive application package and LMU's campus process.

Applicants do not have to be pursuing careers in education. Fulbright seeks qualified individuals from all disciplines and majors.

Exploring Fulbright Graduate Degree Grants

Fulbright offers study award grants for individuals interested in pursuing their master's or Ph.D. outside of the U.S.

Graduate degree grants are available in over 80 countries, and many programs are fully funded and taught in English. Additionally, most Fulbright graduate degree grants fund one-year master's programs instead of the typically two-year programs in the U.S. Study awards are also available in most disciplines and fields of study.

Where to Begin? A Guide to Fulbright Research & Creative Arts Proposals

Learn how to begin a Fulbright research or creative arts award application, which includes establishing an affiliation with a foreign university or Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and an overview of proposal components.

Fulbright applicants for independent research and creative arts awards design their own projects abroad and typically work with advisers at foreign universities or other institutes of higher education. While abroad, they receive a living stipend to cover their room & board. During their grants, Fulbrighters will meet, work, live with and learn from the people of the host country, sharing daily experiences. A candidate will submit a Statement of Grant Purpose defining activities to take place during one academic year in a participating country outside the U.S.
