Heart of WA Drive 2023
WashMasks Mutual Aid's biggest food drive of the year is happening this October through early December. We are aiming to provide at least five community partners in farmworking communities with culturally responsive food items, household goods, and art supplies. This work doesn't happen without community. There are SO many ways that you can participate. We hope you join us in showing up with care, community, and creative joy for the families and individuals who feed us all.

Please note: These are vulnerable communities that have been hit hard by COVID or are under-insured. Many people cannot financially risk sick days. We ask our volunteers to be considerate-- vax up and mask up.

Are you on a PTA? Active with your D&D group, church, or book club? Are you interested in hosting a mini-donation drive for farmworkers? *
We have in-person donation drives (all except SCT's are focused on food). At each donation drive, we will be having a community art table where people can make thank you cards or write letters of solidarity for farmworkers.

We need 2-3 people at each drive. Check the box to the ones you can attend!

Do you have a car but feel more comfortable driving in the city? We need drivers to help pick up items at partner locations (restaurants and local arts orgs) who are helping us host larger donation drives and deliver them to our storage in West Seattle. Depending on distance, we can offer gas stipends of ($10 within the city of Seattle and $25 for travel outside the city) for these trips. Please check box to which date you are available. *

Do you love grocery shopping? Migrant Pantry Team needs support in others joining them in their grocery shopping trips prior to the Delivery Day. Typically grocery shopping is done on the south end of Seattle or King County (Cash and Carry and multiple Latine and immigrant-owned grocery stores). The team needs more hands (and car trunks!) to help get purchased items back to storage.

Do you have a creative knack for signs or cards? Or do you have a tiny human who does? We are hoping to sent off each car with at least one sign celebrating and thanking Washington's farmworkers. Communities supporting communities is an act of solidarity and joy. We will need signs by December 1. Either drop them off at a donation location or mail them to us (PO Box 16500, Seattle WA 98116). *
Are you the Royal Majesty of organizing? Migrant Pantry Team needs support helping organize donations on Friday, December 1 at the West Seattle Library from 12:00-5:00pm. Coffee, water, snacks will be provided. *
We need drivers on our delivery days! We have a large delivery window this year: Saturday, December 2- Sunday, December 10.  Our community partners are able to meet during the weekend or weekdays during these two weeks. We provide gas stipends of $50 to all drivers.

*All drivers must have a valid driver's license, updated insurance and if they are delivering to Eastern Washington, must be comfortable driving through the Snoqualmie Pass.
