Purpose of the study
You are being asked to participate in a research study focused on the extent to which the Rios Hazing Prevention Method is utilized in the safety policies of higher-level institutions in North Carolina. This research aims to determine if institutions are utilizing this method and, if so, to what extent.
Procedures
As a participant of this research study, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire that collects information on the hazing prevention policies in effect at your respective university. Upon your completion of the questionnaire, you will have the choice to participate further in an interview. The purpose of this online interview is to gain more insight into your responses. All interviews will be recorded for the sole purpose of transcribing the interviews. The questionnaire and interview will take approximately 5-10 minutes each. In the questionnaire, there is the optional request to provide a list of hazing prevention policies and resources that are currently enacted [or available] at your institution. Your participation is voluntary. If you do not wish to answer any part of the questionnaire, you can opt-out at any time. There is no penalty for not answering any of the questions or withdrawing from the study. Once you withdraw from the study, I will ask for your consent to use any material that has already been collected to be utilized in my research.
Risks
Your participation in this study does not involve any physical risks. You have the choice to not answer any question(s) or to withdraw from the study at any moment. You are permitted to remain in the study if you leave any question(s) unanswered.
Benefits
By participating in this study, you potentially help to increase the awareness of hazing within universities. This study aims to reduce Greek life hazing rates at universities by analyzing the most policies and resources to prevent hazing. Although this study may not benefit you directly, it will improve the general understanding of the effectiveness of the Rios Hazing Prevention Method.
