Rain It In is a non-profit that hosts competitions that challenge post-secondary students to create innovative solutions that will mitigate the impacts of intense rainfall and flooding. Our upcoming competition will be hosted in partnership with the Town of Ajax, who will be providing a "real-world" example of how municipalities are identifying the need to proactively address flooding risks.
Rain It In is seeking industry experts who can volunteer their time as team mentors and share their real-world experience and knowledge with students to help them create realistic and scalable solutions. After the competition, Rain It In will assist students interested in pursuing the development of their solutions by connecting them with resources, mentors, and programs. In supporting students with the transition from ideas to entrepreneurship and product commercialization, Rain It In hopes to create new career opportunities and ultimately support the implementation of solutions that will positively impact our communities and the environment.
The volunteer commitment for this opportunity will be approximately 3 hours depending on the mentor's availability. Students and mentors will be invited to attend a virtual workshop on February 10th, 2022 from 3:00-6:00 PM EST that will focus on project mentorship and networking. This is also a great opportunity for professionals to highlight their company and different career paths in the water space to the students. Mentors are welcome to continue mentoring student teams directly after the workshop if they would like to provide further support.
