Is there anything about the sequence of your child's schooling that we should know?
Did your child skip or repeat a year?
Has your child ever been asked to withdraw from any school, been suspended or put on probation?
*
The Highlands Farm School encourages multi-year participation as depth of understanding is gained through repetition and leadership skills are gained as more experienced students mentor newer or younger students.

We also encourage the participation of additional students from the same family, if the school is a match for each student.

Are you considering multiple years of attendance at the Highlands Farm School?

Required
The Highlands Farm School is not an accredited institution.

The goal of the Highlands Farm School is to serve as a component of each student's curriculum.   We provide an environment that encourages growth in character, in confidence and in community skills for homeschooled students.

What other academic support will be provided for this student on non-Farm School days?
*
As a small school, it is important for everyone to fully participate in our learning community. While we do our very best to honor individual differences in learning style, we do not have resource specialists available to assist students in academic, social, physical or emotional areas of need.

Is your child currently receiving any support in these areas? If so, please explain.

*
At The Highlands Farm School, children participate in outdoor activities that include but are not limited to farm chores throughout the entire year (rain or shine).

As children gain skill and confidence, they may be encouraged to work independently, without close adult supervision.

Please let us know if there is any health issue that may prevent their participation?

Parent Commitment
Each family is expected to actively participate in the Highlands Farm School community in the following ways:
● Serve as Parent Helper on a rotational basis.  The commitment is for the equivalent of 2 full school days per month. There is an option for Parent Helper shifts to be scheduled as morning or afternoon shifts to accommodate parent schedules.  Siblings are welcome so that parents are able to serve without having to arrange for outside child care.
● Deliver students no later than 9:20 am each school day and arrive for pickup by 1:40 pm at least once a week so that there is time for positive parent/teacher/student/community connections to be made.
● Be willing to help as needed with academic and community activities such as coordination of Parent Helper schedule, school field trips, class parties, etc.
● Communicate successes and any concerns and ideas for improvement directly to teachers.
