Welcome to Decriminalizing Bodies, Liberating Communities: The 2020 Intern Summer Series on Sexual Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice (SRHRJ), hosted by Advocates for Youth, Unite for Reproductive and Gender Equity (URGE), the Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE), The National LGBTQ Task Force, and the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR).

Mark your calendars: every week national organizations will be presenting workshops that tackle a range of topics related to advocacy for sexual health and reproductive justice! We will send reminder emails with information for each session you sign up for.

DATES & SESSIONS

June 25th: Queering Reproductive Justice
An introductory workshop discussing the intersections of reproductive justice with issues of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer rights and Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice. This workshop will provide fundamental knowledge for the rest of the workshops in the series.

July 2nd: Exporting Colonialism: The Trump Effect on Global Health
This workshop will discuss the role and legacy of colonialism in global health and the ways that it manifests today in U.S. policy and funding restrictions on foreign assistance. This workshop is an introduction into the world of global health and the global fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights.

July 9th: Stop the Bans: The Trump Effect on Reproductive Justice in the U.S.
This workshop will discuss recent and historical federal, state, and local policies that have undermined reproductive justice and caused harm to communities of color across the U.S. This workshop will build upon the principles of Queering RJ.

July 16th: Decriminalizing Bodies: Carceration & SRHRJ
This workshop will discuss the ways in which the carceral system impacts the access to sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice for individuals within it.

July 23rd: Sex Work: Decriminalization at Every Level
This workshop will outline the different levels at which sex work is criminalized across the globe, the impacts of the criminalization of sex work, and what is being done in Washington D.C. to decriminalize sex work.

July 30th: Manipulating a Crisis: Coronavirus & SRHRJ
This workshop will discuss the weaponization of the COVID-19 pandemic to restrict access to sexual and reproductive health services within the U.S. and across the globe. The workshop will also share the SRHRJ-related trends that have become apparent during the pandemic.

August 6th: Building Power in the Pandemic and Beyond: An Advocacy Skillshare
This final workshop will provide skills to equip participants to advocate for SRHRJ in a pandemic and beyond. The skills shared in this workshop will allow participants to continue the important conversations touched on in the series and enact change in their communities.
