The repatriation of African museum artefacts
Hello! Thank you for your interest in our research!

This survey is being run by the South African Cultural Observatory, and applies to all museum curators, cultural artifact collection managers, and other heritage professionals in Africa, with a special focus on South Africa.

The aim of the survey is to find out what your professional opinion is of the return (repatriation) of African (especially South African) museum artefacts currently held in foreign museums.

We would like to know how you assign value to any particular artefact (that would make its return more important), and what kinds of repatriation agreements you would find acceptable.

The survey is voluntary and anonymous – NONE of the information you provide can be linked to you or your museum or organization.  You may leave out questions that you do not want to answer.

The results of this research will be posted on the SA Cultural Observatory website. If you would like a PDF copy of the final report emailed to you, you can request one by emailing j.snowball@ru.ac.za.
