It is that time of year again where we are reaching out for help to run the Try Hockey for Free program at the Shakopee Ice Arena. Please respond to the survey and select all positions that you would like to assist with.
Those who help out will be credited DIBS hours for all time present at the events.
The DIBS earned will be credited to you for the 2024-2025 Hockey Season.
The role clarifications are as follows. Please sign up for as many as you are able to help with.
On Ice Coaching - Volunteer will be present on the ice during the entire time of the session. Ice plan/Ideas to be provided prior to each session. Pucks will also be available for each session in the Equipment Room in marked 5-gallon pail. Preferably, if able, to arrive at ice arena 30 minutes prior to help tie skates, help direct players/parents to locker room area, etc.
Equipment Helper - Arrives at rink 1 hour prior to event to assist in sizing kids in hockey gear, assist with dressing players, tying skates, etc. Volunteer also should stay until the event is over to help players return gear, mark gear with name & bag equipment if player is returning for more sessions, etc.
Check-In Helper - Arrives 75 minutes prior to session to set up "check-in table" which includes a roster for the current players signed up for the session, extra USA Hockey Waivers for players who have not signed up online/walk-in players, and direct players to the locker room/equipment room areas. Coaching roster will also be made available to check-in helpers to assure that there is enough help available on the ice.
