Health and Safety Requirements

I will protect myself, participants, the animals, and the employees of the farm by supporting health department requirements and following the instructions given by Ohana Preservation Foundation and/or Ohana Equestrian Preserve staff and volunteers. In order to provide the safest possible environment, Ohana Equestrian Preserve adheres to the rules and regulations put forth by the Health Department. I will maintain good hygiene at all times, hand washing, sanitizing and adhering to social distance guidelines where required. Being able to touch and watch the animals and plants helps people learn about agriculture and animals and encourages the human-animal bond. Despite the many benefits of interacting with the natural environment and farm animals, people should be aware that certain plants can cause reactions based on the individual’s immune system and farm animals can sometimes carry germs that can make people sick, especially those who are already medically fragile. I understand that animals are often unpredictable and I will follow the instructions provided by Ohana staff to keep myself and my participants safe. If Ohana staff perceive a medical emergency of any kind, they will not attempt to treat me or my guests but will instead call 911.

I will protect myself, participants and the animals by remembering to wash my hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after contact with plants or animals. I will use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.

I fully understand that riding horses and participating in other equine activities involves certain intrinsic dangers or conditions that are an integral part of equine activities, including: (i) the propensity of equines to behave in ways that may result in injury, harm, or death to persons on or around them; (ii) the unpredictability of an equine's reaction to such things as sounds, sudden movement, and unfamiliar objects, persons, or other animals; (iii) certain hazards such as surface and subsurface conditions; (iv) collisions with other animals or objects; and (v) the potential of a participant acting in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury to the participant or others, such as failing to maintain control over the equine or not acting within the participant's ability. I wish to participate (and to have my child(ren) participate) in these equine activities knowing that they are dangerous and i hereby agree, on my own behalf and on behalf of my minor children, to accept and assume all risks of injury (including death) to me or my property resulting from my participation in such activities.
