Trauma Training in the UK

Hello, my name is Kadie and I am a second-year trainee counsellor at Heartwood Counselling & Psychotherapy, studying for the Advanced Diploma in Counselling. As part of my course, I am conducting a Research Project and this survey and the data it generates is in support of that project. I hope you will take part in my survey.

This survey is anonymous and voluntary. It will be distributed to qualified counsellors who have trained to a minimum of Advanced Diploma level. The data gathered by this survey will potentially be seen by myself, my tutor, my research project assessor and peers in my class. I will hold the survey data electronically and securely until 12 months after the assessment deadline, which is 21 November 2024, after which date it will be destroyed. I will adhere to the BACP ethical research guidelines in this project.

Please note that by participating in the survey you are consenting to the data being used as described above.

Useful Definition: In my survey, 'trauma' is defined broadly as any adverse experiences that causes someone lasting emotional or physical pain. (Conti, 2021). This could range from acute trauma, chronic trauma, attachment or childhood trauma, complex trauma, racial trauma and so on, but crucially it is where the effects of that trauma are still present with a client in the here and now.

Thank you very much for taking the time to complete my survey.
