Pickin' in the School-Yard 2023~ We are looking for vendors and workshop hosts from our school and regional community to join our annual Spring fundraiser for the Junior Appalachian Musician (JAM) Program of Upper East Tennessee, where we gather to celebrate Appalachian music and culture!
Along with vendors, we will have performances by various JAM Programs of Upper East Tennessee, ETSU's Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Roots Music Studies, as well as music and art from University School Elementary, Middle, and High school students.
This year we are branching out and inviting school and/or community applicants to host workshops during the event. We would love to further the Appalachian educational context, whether in the form of a leading a discussion, teaching how to make a product, or providing a lesson on a related topic. Ideas are welcome!
Vendors will need to be set up from 9:30am-2pm on the front lawn of University School on 4/22. The event will move inside in the case of inclement weather. Workshops will be scheduled inside classrooms.Tables and chairs are available for each vendor/host, as needed and indicated below. Tents are encouraged/recommended for outside vendors.
After approval, art/craft vendors will be responsible for a $25 fee (student vendors are $15 each), and food vendors and workshops are $50, paid before the day of the event. All other proceeds go to the vendor/host. All fees and donations are considered a tax free contribution to the nonprofit, Upper East Tennessee Traditional Music Group, which houses JAM of Upper East Tennessee.
Applications will be accepted through 3-10-23.
