School Choice: Youth Voice
BHSI Summer Internship
We're so glad you are interested in applying for this internship! So, what's this internship all about? Covid-19 has forced all students to school at home. We are choosing a cohort of high school students to help us understand what Black youth think and believe about home-based education. In order to apply you must:
--Identify as Black or African American.
--Live or go to school in one of Denver's Far Northeast neighborhoods.
Under the supervision of the BHSI Director, interns are given a small budget and are completely in charge of this research project. Interns commit to work on projects 1-2 hours during the week as well as attend 1 hour staff meetings on Saturdays for 6 weeks, June 27th-August 1st. Interns earn a stipend to spend on any personal educational materials or experiences. Answer every question thoroughly. This internship is highly competitive and incomplete applications will not be considered.
*Covid-19 and Safety Policy: Student, staff and community safety is of utmost importance to our organization. All meetings and activities must be conducted virtually. All virtual meetings will require a password and permission from a moderator to enter. All virtual meetings must be conducted through our organization's Zoom account and recorded. Any staff directly working with students must pass a background check. No exceptions to any part of this policy.
**Black Homeschooling Sustainability Initiative (BHSI) is an initiative of Denver Independent School (DIS). This internship is made possible through the generous partnerships of Steps to Success and Faithbridge.
