Step 1: Math Pathway Selection.  Before selecting a math class, please note that choosing Pre-Algebra during a students 6th grade year puts them on track to earn 2 high school credits ONLY if a student earns a B or higher in both courses (Algebra 1 during 7th grade and Geometry during 8th grade).  This is the same Geometry class that high school sophomores take.  This pathway is HIGHLY accelerated and not the norm.  No matter the path that a student chooses, all students are required to take and earn 4 math credits in high school to meet graduation requirements.                   In order for a student to request pre-algebra Math MAP scores must be in the 85th percentile and above and we need to have a 5th grade math teacher recommendation and you should have an A in your 5th grade math class.  If you are requesting pre-algebra we encourage you to contact your child's 5th grade math teacher to discuss this option.  CCMS will be contacting teachers regarding each pre-algebra request.  Please note course selection  DOES NOT guarantee placement. *
Step 2: Performance music selection.  Please see the attached videos with descriptions of band and chorus.  Please note that if your child is considering band or chorus 6th grade year is the best year to start since all students are starting at the same level.  Students do not have to pick a music but if they do not select band or chorus they may take general music in the rotation of general encore classes.     *
Step 3: General Encore class selection: Please rank encore classes 1-11.  1 being the class that you MOST want to take, 11 being the class you LEAST want to take.  For more information on general encore classes please visit our course handbook for class descriptions.   Please note course selection DOES NOT guarantee placement.                                                                                            Students may be placed in Math or Reading intervention due to academic needs.  If a student has an IEP they may be placed in Study skills to provide additional Math and reading intervention/course help. *
