Pittsburgh Black Pride Board of Directors Application
Welcome and thank you for applying to become a member of Pittsburgh Black Pride's Board of Directors.

Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis.
 
Mission: The mission of Pittsburgh Black Pride Inc. is to provide educational, social, political, and cultural resources to Black lesbian, gay, bi-attractional, and transgender men and women and their families in Southwest Pennsylvania.

Board Member Eligibility: Board membership is open to any community member who has a vested interest in the mission of Pittsburgh Black Pride. Members represent the perspectives of the Black LGBTQIAA community through life experiences, work responsibilities, or other responsibilities. Individuals are invited to serve by virtue of their experiences and expertise and are not required to function as official representatives of any agency or organizational affiliation.
 

Board of Directors Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Believe in and be an active advocate and ambassador for the values, mission and vision of Pittsburgh Black Pride.
2. Work with fellow board members to fulfill the obligations of board membership.
3. Regularly attend board and committee meetings.
4. Prepare for these meetings by reviewing materials and bringing the materials to meetings.
5. Keep informed about Pittsburgh Black Pride, its issues, and its connection to the community.
6. Help support the charitable contributions operation of the organization (e.g., donations and/or fundraising), including contributing $500 annually to the budget of Pittsburgh Black Pride through a combination of fundraising and personal contributions (e.g., membership dues) during the first year as a board member. The expected contribution will rise to $750 in the second year and $1000 in the third year.
7. As appropriate, use personal and professional contacts and expertise to benefit the organization.
8. Advocate for and advertise programming and events hosted by Pittsburgh Black Pride.
9. Be available to serve as a committee chair or member.
10. Work in partnership with and respect the authority of Pittsburgh Black Pride’s leadership staff.
11. Agree to step down from board position if unable to fulfill these expectations.
