MD Dogs Puppy Application
MD Dogs' 2024 litter is an English Cocker Spaniel litter that is 50% field bred and 50% show bred. These puppies will be well suited to homes looking to train a service dog or those looking for sport dogs. The entire litter will be receiving neonatal imprinting on the odor of low blood sugar, and are being raised as Service Dog candidates, as the primary purpose of the litter was to produce potential Diabetic Alert Dogs.

These puppies will be driven and biddable dogs who love to use their nose. Puppies will come with AKC registration (limited, with the option for full registration once health tests are complete), dewclaws removed, and tails docked. Parents are both extensively health tested. Puppies are being raised in a home with frequent socialization along with ENS, NSI, and puppy culture protocols.

WHY AN ECS? Of all the breeds to choose from, why an English Cocker?  *
These puppies are a cross between field and show lines, which means they will have less grooming required than a show line, but more than a field line. Are you comfortable with a moderate amount of grooming?
Clear selection
We likely will be keeping some or all the puppies for an extra few weeks to give them even more of a head start on their training - obedience, manners, and scent training - as well as to to additional health testing. Our goal is to provide self-trainers with the best possible chances of success, and we have found the first few weeks are often the most difficult.  In this case, we may keep puppies until 14-16 weeks of age, at which point they will be "Started Service Puppies" and would have experienced the necessary exposure during their critical socialization window and have received the start to obedience and scent training. We also have the option of a started service dog as part of our current program, where the dog is in training even longer. Please select which options you would be interested in.  *
Required
To ensure that all puppies are as healthy as possible we will be performing bile acid tests (liver function) on all puppies around 14 weeks of age. If you choose to pick up your puppy at 8 weeks, we would ask that you have it done as well, and we will cover the expense of the test. Is this something you agree to do? (It just requires fasting your puppy, having blood drawn, then feeding your puppy, and having blood drawn again, within a few hours).  *
