The Walk to Emmaus is designed for each team member to cover their own expenses. It is one of many acts of sacrifice, dedication, and Agape love that a team member commits. Most find that such service builds humility and brings unanticipated blessings. Expenses for a 3-day 9-meal event with 35 to 50 people can be staggering, and it would be a tremendous burden to raise funds to cover all participants.
It is recognized that the expense of teaming may be prohibitive for some individuals. We are able to offer a few scholarships each year of up to 50% to laity and up to 100% to clergy assistance. The request for scholarship will be considered by the Emmaus board and those granted will be dependent upon the number of scholarship requests for each walk and individual amount being requested. Eligibility for laity team members is once every two years.
