Campus Master Plan: A Questionnaire For Members
Thank you for taking the time to fill out the following questionnaire. As a member of St. Matthew, your voice is important in this process and we want to better understand your thoughts regarding the future of St. Matthew's campus and building.
St. Matthew's mission statement is: St. Matthew Lutheran Church is a faith family that is GATHERING, GROWING, and GOING in CHRIST. As we have begun new ministries and tried hard to reach into our local neighborhoods to build ongoing relationships, an aging building that isn't as visitor friendly can prove a disconnect to the new and vibrant ministry we are looking to continue in our community, especially as they join us on our campus.
Before you fill out the questionnaire, please reacquaint yourself with the following reasons as to why we are compiling the Campus Master Plan in the first place.
WHY? TO REMOVE PHYSICAL BARRIERS TO CONNECT WITH OUR COMMUNITY
+ As much ministry as possible can take place on the upper level (including the front
parking lot) of St. Matthew (practical convenience and elderly/handicap accessibility).
+ Our gathering/fellowship space and learning space is maximized and varied inside
(upper level) and outside to easily and comfortably welcome those who are churched
and unchurched.
+ The aesthetics and technology of our worship space is fresh and dynamic, yet reflects
St. Matthew’s traditional, liturgical worship that is enhanced with fine music.
+ The aesthetic's of our facility meets Barrington's expectations of a fresh and vibrant
place (particularly to a younger generation) and does not detract from the dynamic
ministry lived out by our St. Matthew family.
+ Our good stewardship of previous generation’s gifts (facility and campus) is visibly
evident to those who come to St. Matthew.
The questions below ARE NOT about current and future ministry programs and events of St. Matthew (the work of the Strategic Planning MAT). The questions below ARE specifically about St. Matthew's campus and building (the work of the Campus Master Plan Task Force). Your responses will help better guide the Campus Master Plan Task Force in working with JNKA Architects to assemble a Campus Master Plan to present to the St. Matthew family for further consideration.
For the purposes of the questionnaire below, "campus" refers to any outside green-space, parking area, walkways, etc. a part of St. Matthew's nine acres. "Building" refers to the outside of the building itself and anything inside of it.
Again, your input is valuable. Thanks for spending a few minutes putting your thoughts into words you can share with your fellow brothers and sisters at St. Matthew as we GATHER, GROW, and GO in CHRIST together!
