Infectious Disease Epidemiology Certificate Declaration of Interest Form (2023)
The Emory University Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) is now accepting applications for the Infectious Disease Epidemiology (ID EPI) Certificate program, which is available to MPH & MSPH students in all RSPH departments.

Infectious disease epidemiology incorporates the fundamental principle that a person’s risk of infection often depends on the disease status of another person or disease prevalence at the population level. Therefore, events are not independent, violating a key assumption of classic epidemiological methods and requiring a different set of methods to approach infectious diseases.

Students in the Certificate in Infectious Disease Epidemiology program will learn how to apply epidemiological methods to study and address infectious diseases and critically assess the science and public health interventions for infectious disease control.

To earn this certificate, students must (1) be accepted into the certificate program and (2) complete all certificate requirements by graduation.

Certificate Requirements:
        1. Core Required Courses (9 Credits)
EPI 512: Current Topics in ID EPI [1 credit] - Fall. Open only to ID Certificate Enrollees.
EPI 517: Case Studies in Infectious Disease [2 credits] - Fall
EPI 569: Concepts & Methods in ID EPI [3 credits] - Fall
EPI 570: ID Dynamics: Theories & Models [3 credits] - Spring.
        2. Certificate Electives (2 Credits) - available at the link below
        3. ID EPI-related Applied Practical Experience (APE)
        4. ID EPI-related Integrative Learning Experience (Capstone or Thesis)

Declarations of Interest are due by September 15, 2023. Students will receive confirmation by September 30, 2023. If you are declaring, you should have already registered for EPI 512 and EPI 517 for Fall 2023.  If you need to register for either of these courses, please reach out to Brenda Hardy, and she will be able to assist.
