Islesboro home energy planning survey
This survey will likely take 15 to 45 minutes to complete.

Do not close this window until you click Submit at the end of the form. If you close this window, your responses might not be saved.

Before you start, gather the following info:
  • Your last CMP bill (we ask for the dollar amount of this bill)
  • An estimate of your total heating fuel costs for the past winter
  • An estimate of your home's living area (in square feet)
This survey contains 7 sections: General info, Insulation, Heating, Appliances and Vehicles, Solar Power, Incentive Eligibility, and Optional Questions (these questions will help with our grant applications).

At the end of the survey is a text box for any other comments you can share.

We are trying to reach 200 homes--our goal for the Rural Energy Prize Round 2 competition for $200k to fund actual energy projects like home insulation and solar power. The info you provide will help the entire community, by allowing us to apply for additional grants for home and community energy projects.

For each of the houses/dwelling units you own on Islesboro, you can help us by filling out a separate form. Each dwelling unit will be eligible for different Efficiency Maine rebates.

Based on this survey, we will send you a comparison with similar homes, a preliminary home energy upgrade strategy, and a rebate/incentive plan. You may choose to discuss this feedback with us later.

The information you provide below will be kept confidential. Only Islesboro's Community Energy Coordinator, Kizzi Barton, and the Islesboro Rural Energy Prize team captain, Cressica Brazier, will have access to this information. We will only use this information for (1) providing feedback to you and (2) anonymized info for future publications and grant applications.

This is not a monthly subscription to solar power like Arcadia, Nautilus, or Nexamp.
Would you consider hosting a small cooperative solar array on your land, for two or more households who cannot install solar on their own roof/land? *
Incentive Eligibility
This Incentive Eligibility section is important for Islesboro's applications for more funding as a whole, as well as for providing you with up-to-date information on Efficiency Maine incentives, federal tax credits and rebates for home energy improvements. You can find more guidance on eligibility at:
If anyone living in your home is enrolled in the programs below, then your home is eligible for enhanced Efficiency Maine incentives. Do you think your home is eligible for enhanced incentives? *
Eligible programs:
  • Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for food assistance
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) for cash assistance
  • MaineCare for medical insurance coverage (including children)
If your household's federal Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) meets the criteria below, then your home is eligible for elevated Efficiency Maine incentives. Do you think your home is eligible? *
  • AGI up to $70,000 for an individual filing as single, head of household or married filing separately,
  • or AGI up to $100,000 if married filing jointly or individual filing as a qualifying widower.
It is important to plan how to maximize your federal tax credits each year for home energy upgrades. To estimate your potential yearly tax credit, what did you pay (for 2022) or plan to pay (for 2023) in federal taxes? *
