Thank you for your interest in becoming a Volunteer with New Beginnings Shih Tzu Rescue (NBSTR)!  This application is required to be eligible to become a Volunteer

While fostering dogs is probably the volunteer role you are most familiar with, we also need volunteer help in many other areas such as checking references of adopters, helping with events and marketing, and transporting dogs.  We can help you find a fulfilling volunteer role that fits with your interests and your schedule.


Our Volunteering application process consists of:


Completion of this application

Successfully passing our reference checks (this may take up to two weeks)

-Two personal references, vet reference, groomer reference if applicable

Home Visit completed by a NBSTR Board Member

What can I do to make the process go quicker?


1. Make sure that your application has been completed fully

2. Let your references know that a Volunteer from NBSTR will be contacting them.

       ****Your vet WILL NOT release information to us without prior approval from you.****

3. Be sure that all your current dogs and cats are: spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, taking heartworm preventative monthly and tested for heartworm yearly.

We understand that there may have been/there are special circumstances regarding a pet’s care and health.  If this is the case, please explain in the application and we can discuss.

Your submission of this application implies your consent for a NBSTR volunteer to contact you and all references that you have listed. Your submission of this application also shall indicate your sincerity of intention regarding volunteering, and that all information you provide in this application is complete and accurate.
