2024 Counselor in Training (CIT) Leadership Program Parent Form - *For Parents to Complete*

Dawson Summer Camps looks forward to offering a CIT Leadership Program to develop the future of camp leaders who are currently ages 14-15. To improve the learning process, we recommend CIT’s attend the program for two weeks though the weeks do not need to be consecutive.

Session Dates:

CIT Session I: Week 2: June 10-14 ($325)
CIT Session II: Week 3: June 17-21  ($260) - 4 days, no camp 6/19
CIT Session III: Week 5: July 8-12 ($325)
CIT Session IV: Week 6: July 15-19 ($325)

Application Process:

Acceptance into this program is based on a video application process, complete the steps below to be considered. (if you registered your child online in the registration system, it will only allow the waitlist option. Acceptance to the program is based on completing the Parent Form and submitting the video application, camp registration will still be required upon acceptance into the program).

The deadline for the video submission and completed Contact Form is February 29, 2024 at 11:59 pm. and applicants will be notified by March 15, 2024. After the 2/29 deadline, applicants will be considered on a first come first serve basis, or put on a waitlist, depending on available space in the program. 

STEP 1: Parent Form (below). 

STEP 2: Applicant Video. The applicant prepares a short video of just themselves addressing the following questions:

  1. What has been your experience with summer camp programs?
  2. Why do you want to be in the Counselor in Training (CIT) Leadership Program?
  3. Which of your interests and hobbies do you think would be helpful in this summer camp role?
  4. If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and why?
  5. Why should we select you for this position?

STEP 3: Registration. Camp registration will be required upon acceptance into the program. Parents can register anytime after it opens on February 8 at 6:00 am, but can only 'waitlist' until the applicant has been accepted into the program, which is based on submitting the Parent Form and the Applicant Video in accordance to the deadline. Once an applicant is accepted into the program, registration is required and the session(s) will be added to their account for payment to be made.

I understand that applying for the CIT Program does not guarantee a spot, and spaces are limited.

I understand that for my child to be considered for the program, a video submission of just the applicant answering the 5 questions listed in Step 2 above, emailed to summercamps@dawsonschool.org, is required in addition to completing this Parent Form. 

I understand the Deadline for the video submission and completed Contact Form is February 29, 2024 at 11:59 pm. After the deadline, applicants will be considered on a first come first serve basis, or put on a waitlist, depending on available space in the Program. 

I understand that if my child is accepted to the program, my child will be required to be registered as a camper in the CampBrain system and the camper rules apply as stated in the 2024 Summer Camp Handbook, per Colorado State Licensing Rules.
